Campbell Middle School student captures award in Missouri Red Ribbon Art Contest

// Posted By Janice Phelan

Logan Turner, a student at Bernard Campbell Middle School, is the eighth-grade winner of the 2017 Missouri Red Ribbon Art Contest. The competition is sponsored by ACT Missouri, the state-wide substance use prevention coalition.

Logan’s art teacher is Jewelee Lukowski at BCMS. Art teachers from throughout the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District work with Lee’s Summit CARES to help provide local students with the opportunity to participate in the contest.

This year’s theme, I Am the Power of Prevention, challenged Missouri students to convey through art the importance of making positive choices to refuse drugs and alcohol. Logan is one of 12 winners chosen among entries submitted from throughout the state. Her artwork will appear with other grade-level winners in the 2018 Year of Prevention Calendar.  She also received a $50 gift card and certificate of participation.

Logan’s artwork is included.  You can view the artwork from this year’s winners at this link:
