The Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation awarded more than $56,000 in PEAK (Promoting Excellence and Knowledge) grants to Lee’s Summit R-7 teachers during May. Foundation volunteers visited numerous schools during a two-day PEAK Patrol venture, surprising teachers with the classroom grants.

The PEAK Grant process is a competitive grant opportunity for teachers to request Foundation funding for classroom initiatives and programs that cannot be funded through the school district budget. PEAK Grant funding is available annually as a result of community generosity through the  Friends of the Foundation sponsorship program.

Over the last five years, the Foundation has awarded more than $2.6 million to Lee’s Summit R-7 students and schools via PEAK Grants, classroom technology, school programs, student assistance and scholarships to graduating seniors. For more information about the Foundation’s programs, please visit

Supporters of the Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation are also invited to participate in fundraising activities planned during a free concert featuring Liverpool, a Beatles tribute band. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. June 25 at Paradise Park, 1021 NE Colbern Road, Lee’s Summit. Foundation volunteers will be operating a PLINKO game and 50/50 raffle with all funds going to support PEAK Grants.
