Students from throughout the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District participated in the district’s Elementary Nutrition Council’s Souper Bowl. Thanks to the food drive, close to 6,500 pounds of food were donated to Lee’s Summit Social Services.
The Souper Bowl of Caring is a national effort that involves young people from throughout the country in fighting hunger and poverty in their own communities. In the weeks leading up to the NFL Super Bowl Sunday, young people collect food items that are donated to local hunger-relief charities.
