Pleasant Lea Middle School hosted its first Young Authors Conference Feb. 21. The successful event, hosted by the school’s Literacy Team, is being planned as an annual event.
A total of 70 students were honored for their literary or artistic talents with approximately 250 spectators also attending. The event included goody bags for students, a gallery walk and refreshments. Students participating received certificates as well as a bound publication of all nominated work.
Toriano Porter, Kansas City reporter and author, delivered the keynote address.
