Getting ready for the first day of kindergarten is an exciting time for both students and their families!
To help families prepare for kindergarten and to allow the district to plan for the coming school year, all elementary schools host annual spring “kindergarten registration” sessions for incoming kindergarten students. Information and schedules for these events are available on the Kindergarten Registration page of our Elementary Education website.
To be eligible for kindergarten in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, children must be 5 years old before Aug. 1. For more information about school entrance requirements, you may also reference our Board of Education School Admissions Policy (JEC).
R-7 kindergarten programs focus on a nurturing environment which provides for both academic and social growth while allowing children to begin to develop personal responsibility and independence.

Parents as Teachers is offering a limited number of screening appointments for children who are kindergarten eligible for the 2015-2016 school year.
