Ivette Salgado finds pride in providing a welcoming environment for Summit Technology Academy students

Title: Building Manager

Building: Summit Technology Academy

What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is being around people, giving customer service and making a good environment for the students. Everything's clean. We keep going to school safe for the students. I'm a people person; I love to please people and do anything I can here for everybody.

What led you to LSR7?
I had just moved here from Puerto Rico and someone here said, "You need to work for the school district." So she opened my eyes. I applied and got hired. Since then, I have been with Lee's Summit School District.

What is one word that you would use to describe working in LSR7?
Joyful. I love what I do.

What's the best day you've had while working here?
This happened to me at Highland Park. A student approached me. She was a third grader and she said, "I really want to say thank you for all you do." And I said, "Why, sweetheart?" and she said, "Because I know you work so hard. You should get a vacation in Hawaii." I told her, "No, sweetheart, it's my job. I love my job." That was the best day. I will never forget.
