LSR7 high school students compete at Annual World Language Competition

Students from Lee's Summit North and Lee's Summit West high schools attended the Annual World Language Competition at the University of Central Missouri and received dozens of accolades. Lee's Summit North's French students once again took home the Overall first place trophy. The following students received awards for their skills as well:

Lee's Summit North French

  • LSN French students took home the Overall First Place trophy again at the World Language Competition.  
  • 1st place Quiz Bowl: David Brown, Vivienne Horton, Ayden Major, and Jenna Dunn
  • 3rd place Poster Competition: Jenna Dunn 

Level 1: 

  • Marley Spears got 2nd in Reading and 3rd in Writing.
  • Jemima Awolusi took 1st in Vocab and 1st in Writing.

Level 2: 

  • Halle Webb was 1st in reading and 2nd in Vocab.
  • Bailey Brown was 1st in Vocab and 3rd in Reading.
  • Molly Saxon got 1st in Writing and 2nd in Grammar.
  • Katie Wright was first in Speaking, and Adelyn Sluder was 2nd in Speaking.

Level 3:  

  • Emerson Godfrey, Callie Hamming, and David Brown placed in every event they competed in that day.  
  • Emmerson received 2nd place in listening, 3rd in Grammar, and 2nd in Speaking.  
  • Callie took 3rd in listening, 1st in Vocab, and 2nd in Grammar.  
  • David was 1st in Reading and 3rd in Writing.  
  • Thienan Nguyen took 1st in Writing.

Level 4:  

  • Emily McEwen and Ayden Major dominated every category.  
  • Emily took 1st in listening, 3rd in Vocab, and 2nd in Writing.  
  • Ayden was 2nd in reading and speaking.  
  • Lena Scofield got 1st in writing and 2nd in vocab.  
  • Addison Evans brought home 1st place in reading.

Lee's Summit North Spanish

  • The Spanish students took home the Overall Third Place trophy at the World Language Competition.

Level 2:

  • Anna Hummel received 1st in Listening and 3rd in Reading.
  • Avery Montgomery received 2nd in Reading.
  • Kylie Horton received 1st in Writing and 1st in Speaking.

Level 3: 

  • Keleigh Paull received 2nd in Reading.
  • Abigail Edwards received 1st in Vocabulary and 1st in Writing.
  • Bennett Knight received 2nd in Vocabulary.
  • Jonah Park received 1st in Speaking and 1st in the Vocabulary Bee.

Level 4: 

  • Elly Brunton received 3rd in Listening.
  • Adam Ali received 1st in Speaking.

Heritage: 

  • Dulce Fores Deaquino received 1st in Speaking.
  • Denisse Flores received 2nd in Writing.
  • Dayana Jaime-Olmelas received 2nd in Speaking.
