LSR7 Track & Field Athletes Deliver Historic Performances at MSHSAA Class 5 State Championship

The Lee's Summit R-7 School District was proudly represented at the 2026 MSHSAA Class 5 State Track & Field Championship, as student-athletes from Lee's Summit West, Lee's Summit  North and Lee's Summit High School delivered outstanding performances.

Lee's Summit West:

Lee's Summit West finished as the Class 5 State Runner-Up with 58 points, just two points shy of a state championship.

  • 200m Dash – Harrison Perkins, State Champion (20.69 MSHSAA Record)
  • 400m Dash – Harrison Perkins, State Champion
  • 4x200m Relay – DeMoreay Franklin, Chris Harris, Jacob Taylor-Brown, Harrison Perkins, State Champions (1:23.32 National High School Record and MSHSAA Record)
  • 4x800m Relay – Miles Kerr, Jack McCrea, Landon Wegleitner, Parker Williams, State Runner-Up
  • 800m Run – Parker Williams, 3rd place
  • 200m Dash – Chris Harris, 8th place
  • 100m Dash – Jacob Taylor-Brown, 6th place
  • 200m Dash – Jacob Taylor-Brown, 4th place
  • 1600m Run – Landon Wegleitner, 4th place
  • Para 100m – Isaac Murdock, 3rd Place
  • Para 200m – Isaac Murdock, 2nd Place
  • Para 400m – Isaac Murdock, 2nd Place
  • Para 800m – Isaac Murdock, 2nd Place
  • Pole Vault – Miller Wood, 3rd Place (All-State)

Lee's Summit North:

  • 300m Hurdles – Kelvin Foster, State Champion 
  • 4x400m Relay – Kelvin Foster, Colton Goins, Cole Fotenos, Ash Arnold, State Champions
  • 400m Dash – Ash Arnold, 6th Place
  • Para Events (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m) – Jeremiah Mangels, State Champion
  • 4x200m Relay – Kamia Chappell, Asanni White, Liyah Agee, Brooklyn Thomas, 7th place

Lee's Summit High School:

  • 4x100m Relay – Preston Hatfield, Peyton Hatfield, Javien Francke, Nick Gormly, 3rd Place
  • 110m Hurdles – Drew Benassi, 5th Place
