Missouri Teacher of the Year Semifinalists

Lee's Summit West Communication Arts educator and LSR7 2024 Teacher of the Year Jennifer Jones is one of 16 educators named semifinalist for 2025 Missouri Teacher of the Year. The Teacher of the Year program spotlights the positive impact excellent teachers have on their students. The Missouri Teacher of the Year selection process began with the announcement of 34 Regional Teachers of the Year who represented each of the state’s nine Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC) areas. Next, DESE will announce the finalists for the 2025 Missouri Teacher of the Year award on Thursday, August 29. 

National Academic Quiz Tournament

The Lee's Summit West and Lee's Summit High School Scholar Bowl teams participated in the National Academic Quiz Tournament's National Championship in Atlanta this summer, both competing against the best and brightest from across the country. Lee's Summit West ranked 179, Lee's Summit High School ranked 199 out of 320 schools.

Lee's Summit West Braden Cantrell was named Rising Star in the competition.
