Students offer testimony to state representatives

Five Lee's Summit West International Baccalaureate (IB) students traveled to Jefferson City this week to offer testimony supporting a bill being considered by Missouri Legislators. The new legislation will award credit to students entering any state college or university if they receive a score of four or higher on their IB course. This is similar to a law already in place for AP exams. Students who receive a three or higher on those courses can receive credit for that work at any publicly funded state college or university.

MMEA Performers

Dozens of students will be performing at the Missouri Music Educator Association's All-State conference this week. Two ensembles were selected to perform together and more than 30 individual students were selected to perform with the All-State band, orchestra, jazz band, choir and collective. Full list of participants here.

VFW Awards

Five LSR7 students won prizes from the VFW post in Lee's Summit. Students in middle school can submit work for the Patriot's Pen contest. First place went to Summit Lakes Middle School's Tate Wegleitner, second to East Trails Middle School's Abigail Clark and third to ETMS student Ava Heck.

LSR7 high school students took first and third in the Voice of Democracy Contest. First place with the Lee's Summit North student Cooper Spacil and third place to Lee's Summit West's Aidan Monard.
