Summit Success Stories - Week of April 1

Lee's Summit North HOSA Team

Congratulations to the Lee's Summit North HOSA Team after some incredible results at the state competition. HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education that promotes career opportunities in the healthcare industry and enhances the delivery of quality health care to all people.

The following were the results of the competition last week:

  • Biotechnology: Charlee Mullins - Top 10 finish
  • Clinical Laboratory, Science: Brooke Crotts - 1st Place
  • Forensic Science: Hailey Baldwin & Erin Weiland - Top 5 Finish
  • Human Growth & Development: Callie Dennis - 1st Place

Callie and Brooke both qualified for International's in Houston, TX this June.

Lee's Summit High School Tiger Broadcast

Congratulations to Tiger Broadcast for earning the Outstanding Achievement in News/Magazine award for their December 2023 show through the national Student Television Network group. Tiger Broadcast is led by News Director Lillian Maycock.

 

Lee's Summit West Team Titanium Robotics

Congratulations to Team Titanium Robotics for becoming finalists along with their alliance partners at the Heartland Regional robotics competition and for qualifying for the World Championships with a wildcard pick. The team also won the Autonomous Award at regionals for their robot's consistent performance when not under the control of a driver. Team member Ethan Wood became a Dean's List Finalist for his outstanding contributions to the team and will compete for the Dean's List Award at the World Championships.

 

Lee's Summit West FBLA

Congratulations to members of Lee's Summit West High School's Future Business Leaders of America. Allie Hutchinson, Gabbie Brocato and Amelia Horn planned and hosted a donation drive, collecting toys and games for families with children staying at Children's Mercy. In addition to collecting more than 500 items, they raised more than $700. The team will now bring this fundraiser to FBLA's State Leadership Conference to compete in the Community Service Project event later this month.
