Missouri Fine Arts Academy
LSR7 students are also heading to Springfield this summer for the Missouri Fine Arts Academy. The following students have accepted the offer to attend the annual summer enrichment program at Missouri State University:

Student Writing Contest
Lee's Summit North junior, Tristan Stevens received an Honorable Mention in the World War II Museum's Annual Student Writing Contest. Tristan was asked to write about the Double V Campaign during World War II and how equality in the US has evolved since that time. In addition to his award, Tristan earned cash prize in the 10-12 category.
Missouri Scholar Academy
LSR7 will have strong representation at the Missouri Scholars Academy this summer. Missouri Scholars Academy is a three-week residential program at the University of Missouri-Columbia for 330 sophomores from across Missouri. The program provides a specially-designed curriculum focused on a wide array of interests to enable all the participants a unique learning community.

Consummate Professional Award
Summit Ridge Academy Principal Andy Campbell is being recognized later this month by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals and Walsworth Yearbooks. Campbell earned the Consummate Professional Award for the Greater Kansas City region and was selected for this award by fellow secondary principals.
LSHS Teacher Honored
Lee's Summit High School's Cameron Pack was selected as the Missouri Council of the Social Studies High School Teacher of the Year. Pack teaches 10th grade history and AVID. He was nominated by a fellow teacher for this award who mentioned his ability to make history real, relatable and important to students.
Foreign Language Teacher of the Year
Rachel Benson, a German teacher at Pleasant Lea Middle School and the Modern Language Department Chair for the Lee's Summit School District, has been awarded the prestigious Central States Teacher of the Year award. This significant achievement recognizes her outstanding contributions to modern language education, as she was selected from among exceptional educators representing 14 states.
Benson will now represent the central region of the United States in the national competition for the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) National Modern Language Teacher of the Year.
