Summit Success Stories - Week of November 18

State Swim Champions

Two LSR7 swimmers can now call themselves state champion. Lee's Summit High School's Noah Reeves set the state record for the 50 free, winning with a 20.20 time. Lee's Summit High School student Nathan Butler won the 100 butterfly with a 48.94 time.

PLMS Cross Country

The Pleasant Lea Middle School cross country team made a huge impact at the most recent Pro Deo board meeting. Members of the team dropped off a check for $9,200 raised during their annual Lap-a-Thon fundraising event. That brings the total amount raised in the last six years to $50,000, all to Pro Deo.

MECA Challenge

The Career Education Consortium (CEC) hosted its MECA Challenge earlier this month and LSR7 students made a huge impression. The MECA Challenge hosts teams of students from around the Kansas City metro and asks them to come up with solutions to a prompt. This challenge's prompt: how might we create lasting solutions that enhance the quality of life for our generation and future generations?

The teams from Lee's Summit High School and Summit Tech Academy both earned recognitions. LSHS earned the Communication and Selling Award, STA took home the Innovator Award.
