What is the Excellence In Teaching award?
The Excellence In Teaching award is given annually to twelve teachers who embody overall dedication and excellence in the R-7 School District.
Who can win Excellence In Teaching?
Any teacher, library media specialist, or counselor who has worked for the R-7 District at least five years. (S)he must be nominated for the award and complete the packet to be considered for the Excellence In Teaching award.
Can you be recognized as an Excellence In Teaching recipient more than once?
No, teachers can only be recognized as an Excellence In Teaching recipient one time. If teachers are nominated after receiving the Excellence In Teaching award, they can complete the packet to be considered for the Teacher of Distinction Award.
What is the Teacher of Distinction award?
Teachers of Distinction are former Excellence In Teaching recipients who have been nominated again. Since teachers are only eligible to win the Excellence In Teaching award once, if they are nominated again, they can complete the packet to be considered for the Teacher of Distinction award. Each year, up to three teachers will be selected as Teachers of Distinction.
Who can win Teacher of Distinction?
Any full-time teacher who is a previous Excellence In Teaching recipient. (S)he must be nominated for the award and complete the packet to be considered for the Teacher of Distinction award.
Can you be recognized as a Teacher of Distinction more than once?
No, unfortunately once a teacher has won the Teacher of Distinction award, (s)he is no longer eligible for the award.
What is the Teacher of the Year award?
The Teacher of the Year award is presented to one teacher annually. This teacher serves as a representative all of the outstanding educators in the R-7 district. (S)he goes on to compete for Missouri Teacher of the Year awarded by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Should the R-7 Teacher of the Year be awarded Missouri Teacher of the Year, (s)he will go on to compete for National Teacher of the Year.

Any of the current year's Excellence In Teaching or Teacher of Distinction recipients.
Can you be recognized as Teacher of the Year more than once?
No, unfortunately once a teacher has won Teacher of the Year, (s)he is no longer eligible for the award.
If a teacher is a part-time employee, is (s)he eligible for any of these awards?
Part-time teachers who have worked for the R-7 District in a certified position for at least five years are eligible for the Excellence In Teaching award.
If a teacher is nominated for Excellence In Teaching, is (s)he required to interview for Teacher of the Year?
No, some teachers may not wish to be Teacher of the Year. (S)he may still complete the packet to be considered for the Excellence In Teaching award.
If a teacher is nominated for Teacher of Distinction, is (s)he required to interview for Teacher of the Year?
Yes, Teachers of Distinction must interview for Teacher of the Year.
How long must someone have worked in the district to be eligible for any of these awards?
To be eligible for any of the awards, the nominee must have worked for the R-7 School District in a certified position for at least five years.
