PREREQUISITE: Strongly recommend C average or higher in English courses

Debate 1 is for students who have never participated in a debate program before. Students are introduced to logical principles
of argumentation and analysis, research, persuasive speaking skills, and debate format and rules. As an activity, debate is time
intensive, and students must be willing to commit to after school practice sessions and weekend competitions as prescribed by
the director of debate. Students will also be expected to assist with hosting an invitational tournament.
