Students will read closely and think critically about various literary genres, including fiction and informational texts. Students will
write for a variety of purposes, applying effective language skills for authentic audiences. This course focuses on thematic units
that explore the modern human experience. Students learn to examine the texts and literacy practices of everyday life, with special
attention to mass media, digital media, and popular culture.
