This course teaches the fundamentals of French and introduces the cultures of the French-speaking peoples. It
emphasizes the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing; the use of practical vocabulary (greetings,
school, leisure activities, animals, family, food); and elementary grammar. Students listen to and tell stories, write
short creative stories, and develop reading skills. Active class participation is essential. Because this class
emphasizes communication, regular attendance is required. This class is not intended for native speakers.
