INTRODUCTION TO CREATIVE WRITING

Grade: 9-12

PREREQUISITE: Teacher approval; strongly recommend B average in English
NOTE: Also offered through R-7 Online Academy

This course is designed to introduce students to the skills and concepts that are the basis for various genres of creative writing
including creative nonfiction, fiction, drama, and poetry. Students will be encouraged to develop a personal style as well as
experiment with other writing methods. Students will examine the work of professional writers, complete daily writing exercises,
give and receive feedback from peers, revise and edit their writing, and submit finished pieces in each genre.
