MACHINE TOOL TECHNOLOGY
Grades: 11-12
Credit: 1 unit LSHS Only
PREREQUISITE: Recommended C or above in Metal Technology and/or teacher approval
The purpose of this class is to acquaint students to the manufacturing processes that are involved in machine tool technology.
In this course students will acquire a variety of skills including: milling, turning, drilling and grinding. Students will also be taught
how to use precision measurement tools and the proper safety procedures expected in the machining industry. Students will
construct individual projects. This class does have a class fee for take home projects.
Students are highly encouraged to join the co-curricular organization SkillsUSA (an organization that prepares students for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations) to gain authentic experiences through leadership conferences, competition, and networking. Membership fees are required for membership as well as possible fundraising efforts. Assistance is available if fees present a hardship.
