The students will study the many facets of the metal industry and related fields. They will gain experience with sheet metal, bench metal, machining, welding, forging, heat-treating, and foundry. Students will construct individual projects. This class does have a class fee for take home projects.
Students are highly encouraged to join the co-curricular organization SkillsUSA (an organization that prepares students for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations) to gain authentic experiences through leadership conferences, competition, and networking. Membership fees are required for membership as well as possible fundraising efforts. Assistance is available if fees present a hardship.
