This course teaches the fundamentals of Spanish and introduces the cultures of the Spanish-speaking peoples. It emphasizes
the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing; the use of practical vocabulary (greetings, school, leisure activities,
family); and elementary grammar. Students listen to and tell stories, write short creative stories, develop reading skills. Active
class participation is essential. Because this class emphasizes communication, regular attendance is required. This class is not
intended for native speakers.
