Allows roughly 150 Greenwood, MO students who currently attend school at Woodland Elementary to attend school in their neighborhood.

Why a new build?

A detailed cost analysis revealed that renovating Greenwood Elementary would amount to approximately 80% of the cost of constructing a new building. In addition, due to significant site constraints, a renovation would not meet several critical needs outlined in the Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (CFMP), particularly those concerning student safety due to the school's proximity to a busy highway.

Building new was determined to be the more efficient, fiscally responsible solution with the added benefit of being less intrusive to our students' learning environment.

Will this project prompt boundary changes?

Yes. Currently roughly 150 students who live in Greenwood, Mo are districted to attend school at Woodland Elementary. The Greenwood bond project supports a district goal of increasing the number of students who reside in Greenwood and attend school within their community.

Following a successful bond issue, a boundary adjustment is planned to transition Woodland Elementary families who specifically live west of the 150 railroad bridge and Big Creek in Greenwood to the new Greenwood Elementary after it is constructed, likely around the 2027-28 school year.
