Pre-Kindergarten

Pre-Kindergarten is free for up to 160 students whose family household income meets Free & Reduced Lunch guidelines.

Free & Reduced Lunch eligibility is based on guidelines set by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). It's based both on the number of family members in your household and income.

Families selected for the free pre-K program must also provide an approved F/R lunch application ahead of the school year, along with proof-of-age and residency.

• A total of 180 pre-K spots are available for the 2025-26 school year.
• All will be full-day spots

• Students who reside in the LSR7 boundaries and are 4 years old by July 31, 2025. (Kindergarten-eligible for the following year)
• The district will offer free pre-K to 120 students whose family household income qualifies for free & reduced lunch. 
• The district will also offer tuition-based pre-K for 60 additional students. Tuition-paid students do not need to meet any household income criteria.
   

A lottery system will determine enrollment if we receive more applications than we have spots. Our tuition spots are currently filled. There are still open spots available for those who meet the Free/Reduced eligibility qualifications.

• Prairie View Elementary will house the PreK program
• The PreK Program will have its own entrance, parking, signage, etc., and will operate as its own site.
   

• District transportation will not be provided at this time.
• Parents/guardians will be responsible for transportation to the pre-K program.
   

The PreK Program students will attend school five days a week following the same student attendance as K-12 students.

Yes. The PreK Program students will attend school five days a week following the same student attendance as K-12 students.

This program is an addition to the district and will not remove or move any programming currently offered at the existing GBEEC sites. 

The district will use the designated DESE PreK Framework Project Construct, in alignment with what is used at the GBEEC sites in LSR7.

The Board of Education approved the expansion of the district’s pre-Kindergarten offerings at its Feb. 22, 2024 meeting following a district Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) recommendation informed by a four-month needs and feasibility study from Oct. 2023 to January 2024.

If you have a child attending full-day pre-K, there will be an option to attend Y-Club Services. They will open at 6 am before school and close at 6 pm after school concludes. If your child attends the morning pre-K session, they would be eligible to attend Y-Club before school begins, as early as 6:30 am. If your child attends the afternoon pre-K session, they may attend the after school Y-Club session, which ends at 6 pm. There will not be Y-Club services offered in the middle of the day for our half-day pre-K sessions.

The cost of Y-Club services are:

• $105 for Before & After Care
• $85 for Before only or After only
