FOUNDATIONS OF FITNESS
Grades: 9-12

PREREQUISITE: None
This course is designed for 9th and 10th grade students to develop the knowledge, skills, and habits necessary for maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle. Students will learn to take responsibility for their personal fitness while demonstrating appropriate social behaviors in a variety of physical activity settings. Students will analyze their current fitness data and actively engage in physical activity to enhance their physical health. Physicial activity will focus on the 5 health related fitness components and may include some nontraditional games. Students will complete written assignments and/or assessments weekly. Foundations of Fitness should be taken during grades 9 or 10 and may not be repeated after successful completion. Students should complete the Missouri CPR instruction graduation requirement in this course.
