FRENCH II
Grade: 9-12
Credit: 1 unit
PREREQUISITE: C- or above in the previous course or teacher approval
Note: Also offered through R-7 Online Academy
This course targets novice-high proficiency and builds on foundational skills from French 1, with an increased emphasis on sequencing, past experiences, and expressing preferences, hopes, and comparisons. Units focus on summer break and travel, climate and weather, childhood and personal history, and daily routines and self-care, integrating cultural exploration throughout. Students practice talking about past events (passé composé, imparfait), expressing opinions and preferences, making comparisons, describing people, places, and activities, and understanding and responding to simple sequences of information. Cultural awareness is emphasized through Francophone perspectives on travel, climate, childhood roles, hygiene, and self-care practices. Because this class emphasizes communication, regular attendance is required. This class is not intended for native speakers.
