Grade: 9-12

Credit: 1 unit
PREREQUISITE:
C- or above in the previous course or teacher approval

This course targets novice-high proficiency and focuses on expanding students’ ability to communicate in real-life contexts. Units emphasize homes and living, celebrations, music and films, sports and wellness, travel, and summer activities. Students practice exchanging opinions and preferences, describing people, places, and activities, sharing plans and hopes, and sequencing events. Cultural exploration is integrated throughout, including housing practices, birthday and holiday traditions, music and film culture, health and soccer, public transit and travel customs, and youth summer routines in German-speaking countries. Because this class emphasizes communication, regular attendance is required. This class is not intended for native speakers.
