This is an introductory course targeting the novice-mid ACTFL proficiency level. Students develop basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while communicating about themselves, family, school, and daily life. Units cover self-introduction and feelings, school routines, family and friends, and places and hobbies, with a focus on cultural awareness in Spanish-speaking countries. By the end of the course, students can exchange simple information, describe people and activities, retell short stories, and demonstrate understanding of cultural practices. Because this class emphasizes communication, regular attendance is required. This class is not intended for native speakers.
