Board vote paves the way for school-based health centers

Heart and stethoscope

This fall, the Board of Education approved an agreement with Burrell Behavioral Health, a not-for-profit organization that can provide a wide range of health services, to help establish school-based health centers in LSR7.

School-Based Health is an evidence-based intervention delivering health services to students pre-k-12th grade in the setting where children spend a significant amount of time: school.

Establishing school-based health centers will empower LSR7 to:

  • Provide access to health care for all students
  • Provide regular preventative care for students
  • Keep students in school
  • Reach low-income students

Burrell will partner with the LSR7 school district utilizing a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) modeled approach to support staff education and training as well as supports for students.
