Activities & Athletics
Safety and capacity improvements positively impacted all three high schools.
High school athletic and activities improvements at each of LSR7’s three high schools improved safety, expanded capacity and upgraded aging infrastructure at outdoor stadiums and event spaces. The project included stadium improvements, turf replacement and track resurfacing at all three high schools, as well as a Lee’s Summit High School baseball/softball complex located at the new fourth middle school site.

“The bands at all three schools will utilize the turf fields every day. The opportunity to share this space prevents us from using a parking lot that isn't big enough to hold the band, or a grass field that can be wet and muddy, or uneven and dangerous. Ultimately, it is a curricular necessity and provides our students with the best opportunity to succeed.”
Clifton D. Thurmond, Lee's Summit West Band Director
Total Budget: $19 million

"Our field was 10 years old, which is the average life expectancy of a turf field, and it needed to be replaced. We’re so grateful that the community understands the need to upgrade facilities over the course of time. I know all of us at LSN are appreciative for this stadium upgrade as it is a sense of pride for the Bronco community."
Mike McGurk, Lee's Summit North Assistant Principal/Activities Director
