Updated Guidance
The Jackson County Health Department and Kansas City Health Department have aligned COVID-19 with updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Test Positive for COVID-19:
- Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must stay home and isolate themselves from others.
- After five days, if you have no symptoms or symptoms are resolving, you can leave your isolation. However, you should wear a mask at school for five additional days.
- If your symptoms continue or you continue to have a fever, you must continue to stay home.
Exposed to Someone with COVID-19 – Recently Fully Vaccinated or Boosted (Individuals have completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines within the last 6 months OR the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months OR Boosted.)
- You do not have to stay at home, but mask-wearing is strongly recommended.
- If you develop symptoms, get a test and stay home.
- It is strongly recommended that you get a test 5 days after your exposure.
Exposed to Someone with COVID-19 – Not Recently Vaccinated, Boosted, or Unvaccinated (Individuals have completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine OVER 6 months ago and are not boosted OR completed the primary series of J&J OVER 2 months ago and are not boosted OR unvaccinated)
- Stay home for 5 days.
- After 5 days, you may return to school but you should wear a mask for five additional days.
- If you develop symptoms, get a test and stay home.
- It is strongly recommended that you get a test 5 days after your exposure.
